New research in mice now shows that throwing off natural circadian rhythms over the long term can seriously disturb the body and brain, causing weight gain and impulsive behavior. It seems even to make mice dumber, or at least slower at solving new mazes. The research, presented at Neuroscience , the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience is helping scientists better understand the neurobiological mechanisms behind circadian disruptions. These disruptions are not only a nuisance, they can also lead to serious health and safety problems," he said. After six to eight weeks, the mice exhibited numerous physiological changes not seen in a control group. While not any more active than the control mice, the disrupted mice were impulsive, a behavior measured in part by how long they wait to emerge into the light from a dark compartment in a cage.
Outline and Evaluate Circadian Rhythms

Circadian Rhythms are the times of day that you get either hungry, tired, or energetic. This paper is to describe an experiment that I have thought up that will test to see if circadian rhythms differ from people who perceive themselves as night-time people and people who perceive themselves as morning people. My hypothesis is that night-time people's circadian rhythms are extremely different than morning people's circadian rhythms. Participants for my experiment will be ninety-nine undergraduate female students from Iowa State University. Prior to the experiment all participants will have to fill out a questionnaire. This questionnaire will primarily determine if they feel themselves as being either morning or night types of people.
Wednesday, March 9 is when I started my sleep deprivation experiment. I wanted to see how long I could keep my body awake and how my lack of sleep would affect my mood and my everyday interaction with people. In my opinion, it went better than expected. Usually I get very emotional when I am tired to the point where just my feet hurting is enough to make me cry. Given, that is usually after several nights of not getting enough sleep, going to bed late, and waking up early.
With the former, the standard is against others and society as a whole. With the former, people may experience different eating and sleeping habits than the majority of society—for example, sleeping later or earlier than others. When the circadian rhythm is interrupted for example, by daylight , people can experience adverse health effects Psychology Today, n.
